Using License Manager

Introduction

The Datamine License Manager adheres to Microsoft Windows® implementation standards, making much of the interface functionality familiar to experienced Windows software users.

The License Manager interface contains the following important functional areas:

Menu Bar

This provides access to all the commands and functionality available in the License Manager. For details of the menus, see the License Manager command summary.

 

Toolbars

The toolbars provide single-click access to the most commonly used commands.  A drop-down box allows you to select the products for which you wish to see the licenses.

License Pane

The license pane lists all the licenses for the product (or all products) selected in the tool bar box. The information displayed can be customized using the Field Chooser which allows you to drag and drop fields into, or out of, the column headings area. This is accessed as follows: View | Toolbars | Field Chooser.

Licenses are color-coded according to their status:

License 4

Gray

Expired license. Not available.

License Expires

Renewable, Temporary, Provisional

License 5

Red

Not authorized. Not available.

Status Bar - Dongle Number:

All

 

Properties

The Properties pane is accessed by selecting View | Toolbars | Properties from the menu, and provides useful information about the selected license in the license pane.

 

Status bar

The status bar displays the following information:

  •  A description of any selected tool on the toolbars.
  • The current user.
  • Vital authorization details, including the dongle number (if attached) and the hard disk serial number.
  • The mode of operation, including Desktop, Department Server or Enterprise Server.
