Scheduling Setup: Mining Rates

To access this screen:

  • Display the Optimization task bar and select Optimization >> Scheduler >> Settings >> External Sources.

Define mining rates for your scheduling scenario.

Set the rate of mining for your schedule, either as a constant for all periods or as a custom rate for individual periods. A maximum rate must be specified, but a minimum rate is optional.

Rates can be defined either as Kilotons Per Day (Ktpd) or Million Tonnes Per Annum (Mtpa).

Rates can be optionally set according to loader capacity, cost and lifespan.

Note: 1Ktpd = 0.365 Mtpa.

Note: Once the rate is set, it is used on all subsequent Scheduler Setup screens.

To set the rock mining rate for scheduling pushbacks:

  1. Define your scheduling periods.

  2. For each period, set (optionally) a Total Minimum rate.

Note: Minimum mining rates should be used only when needed as this may increase processing times.

  3. For each period, optionally define a Total Maximum tonnage.

Note: Defining the maximum mining rates is optional, but common practice to ensure the mining fleet capacity is not exceeded.

Tip: Set multiple periods to the same value by selecting those rows in the table, entering a Ktpd or Mpta value and selecting Set Selected.

  4. If you want to let your loader capabilities define the mining rate, check Use loaders to define max mining rates, then:

    1. Enter the No of Loaders.

    2. Enter the Capital Cost of each loader in $.

    3. Set the Capacity of each loader.

    4. Choose the predicted Lifespan of each loader (in years).

  5. Save your scheduler settings.
