Configuring general options

Customize - Options Dialog

To access this dialog:

  • Right-click an empty menu bar area and select Customize, then select the Options tab.

  • Right-click a toolbar icon and select Customize, then select the Options tab.

The Options tab of the Customize dialog is used to configure general system settings.

 This dialog contains the following fields:

Field details:

Show screen tips on toolbars: to show icon tooltip text (screenTips), select this option. Tooltips are shown as small text descriptions when the mouse hovers over an icon e.g.:

Show shortcut keys in screen tips: if there is an shortcut key combination associated with a toolbar command, you can show this combination as part of the tooltip by selecting this option.

Large Icons: to show large icons, select this option.

Menus show recently used commands first: to enabled automatically-sorted menus, based on command usage, select this option. Commands that have not been used recently will be hidden from view until the menu is either expanded manually, or optionally, after a short delay (see below).

Show full menus after a short delay: if you have opted to sort menus according to command usage, selecting this option will display the full menu after a short delay.

Reset my usage data: selecting this option will clear the 'history list' of recently-used commands.
