Define Activity Flow
To access this screen:
-
On the Scheduling Setup screen, select Activities >> Order.
Use the Activity Flow panel to add, define, and delete process flows made up of a specific sequence of scheduling activities.
You can create any order of process type activities. If you set an activity as parallel, it can take place at the same time as other parallel activities above or below it in the order.
For example, a drilling-blasting-loading order can be enforced by setting up three independent activities and setting them in a non-parallel order.
If an activity cannot be scheduled in a time period due to Process Flow (PFLOW) constraints, a warning will be displayed.
For example, with a process flow A > B > C, if activities A and B have been scheduled with/without spillover, to meet the defined end time, when attempting to schedule activity C, a warning is shown before the Schedule Selected Blocks screen displays.
The warning can either be ignored by clickingContinue, or scheduling cancelled by clicking Cancel.
Activity Steps:
-
Display the Define Activity Flow screen.
-
To add a new flow, right-click Order, then select Add.
-
To delete a non-system flow, right-click the flow, then select Delete.
-
In Name, enter a new process flow name or edit the existing name.
-
In the Process Activities table, use Add to add activities to the flow.
Note: Activities shown on the Add Activities screen are process type activities defined on the Define Activities screen.
-
Review the Order column to confirm the sequence (top-to-bottom, starting at 1).
-
If required, select an activity and use Move Up or Move Down to change its position in the list.
-
In Parallel, select No to keep the activity in sequence, or select Yes to allow it to run in parallel with other activities. Here are some examples:
Activities/Parallel Result Activity 1 / No Activity 2 / No Activity 3 / No 1 then 2 then 3 Activity 1 / No Activity 2 / Yes Activity 3 / No 1 then 2 then 3 Activity 1 / Yes Activity 2 / Yes Activity 3 / No 1 and 2 then 3 Activity 1 / No Activity 2 / Yes Activity 3 / Yes 1 then 2 and 3 Activity 1 / Yes Activity 2 / Yes Activity 3 / Yes 1 and 2 and 3 Note: To run activities in parallel, you must set Yes for two or more activities in sequence.
-
Click Apply to apply your changes and update your project data.
-
Click Revert to remove your most recent changes if required.
Note: If an activity cannot be scheduled in a time period due to process flow (PFLOW) constraints, a warning is displayed. For example, with a process flow A > B > C, if activities A and B have been scheduled with or without spillover to meet the defined end time, a warning is shown before the Schedule Selected Blocks screen opens when you attempt to schedule activity C.
You can ignore the warning by clicking Continue, or cancel scheduling by clicking Cancel.
