Unfold Wizard: Create Unfolding Strings Tab

To access this dialog:

  1. Activate the Structure ribbon and click Unfold .

  2. In the Unfold Wizard dialog, select the Create Unfolding Strings tab.

Field Details:

Sections: allows you to either display a particular section by selecting it from the dropdown list, or display sections sequentially in the 3D  window using the Left or Right arrows.

The number of available sections is defined by the value set for Target Interval in the Define Sections tab.


Zoom-All
: fits the selected section to the screen by zooming in or out.

Clipping: turns clipping on or off for all sections except the current section. The clipping interval is set in the Define Sections tab.

Section Slice Strings: allows you to create wireframe slice strings for each section in the section definition file. These can be edited using the standard digitization tools, deleted, and saved.

Create Section Slice Strings: creates a closed string for each section in the section definition file. As the first and last sections do not intersect the wireframe, the second and penultimate slice strings are projected onto the first and last sections respectively.

Save Edited Slice Strings: saves the section slice strings and adds the file STR05_SEC_SLICES to the project.

Delete Slice Strings: displays only slice strings in the 3D  window. Click near or on slice strings to delete them, and click Done when finished.

 

Hanging Wall End Strings: allows you to create the strings required to join the hangingwall end points of the section slice strings. These can then be edited using the Zoom Left and Zoom Right buttons, and saved.

Create Strings Joining HW End Points: create a string joining the furthest-left, and a string joining the furthest-right hangingwall points on each section slice string.

Zoom Left: for each numbered section, zooms into the left-hand end of the section slice string.

Zoom Right: for each numbered section, zooms into the right-hand end of the section slice string.

  • Once activated, the Zoom-Left and Zoom-Right buttons can be used throughout the Create Unfolding Strings tab.

  • Click Zoom-Allto fit a selected section to the screen.

 

Edit End Points: for each numbered section, allows you to edit the hangingwall end points to ensure that the uppermost point at each end of the hangingwall is connected to the hangingwall end string. TheZoom LeftandZoom Rightbuttons can be used to assist with this. Click the point that you wish to connect the hangingwall end string to, and clickDoneafter completing each section slice string.

Save Edited HW End Strings: saves the hangingwall end strings and adds the fileSTR06_HW_END to the project.


Hanging Wall and Foot Wall Strings
: allows you to create and save individual hangingwall and footwall strings for each section.

The hangingwall and footwall strings can be seen more easily in the 3D  window by deselecting the object STR05_SEC_SLICES (STRINGS) in the Strings folder in Sheets control bar.

 

Create HW End Strings: for each section, a green string representing the hangingwall, and a cyan string representing the footwall are created.These can be edited using the standard digitization tools.

Save Edited HW and FW Strings: for each section, a within-section tag string is added to join the hangingwall and footwall strings. The strings are then saved, and the file STR07_HWFW is added to the project.


Additional Tag Strings
: optionally create additional tag strings which mimic the shape of the orebody. This can be done automatically, using the Create button, or manually. Tag strings can also be added and edited using the standard digitization tools, and then saved.

Within Section Tags: defines the approximate spacing between the within-section tag strings that are automatically added when you click Create.

Create: automatically adds within-section tag strings to each section. The approximate spacing of the tag strings is defined by the value set in the Within Section Tags box.

Insert Between-Section Tag: allows you to add tag strings linking all sections. This is done by clicking in the Design or VR window to define the position of the string. The tag string that you create snaps to the nearest point on each section.

Insert Within-Section Tag: allows you to add tag strings within a section by clicking to define the start and end point of each string. The strings snap to the nearest point on each section.

Save Tag Strings & Edited HW, FW: saves any additional tag strings and adds the file STR08_HWFW_TAGto the project. This button must be clicked in order to activate the Validate and Convert Tags button.

The hangingwall and footwall strings can be seen more easily in the 3D window by deselecting the object STR05_SEC_SLICES (STRINGS) in the VR /Strings folder in Sheets control bar.

 

Save and Validate Tags: validates and converts the HW and FW strings in preparation for running the Unfold operation, and adds the file STR09_HWFW_VALID to the project. A message is displayed if the operation is completed successfully.
