Select Database Server and Database

Use the Select Database Server and Database screen to configure a Microsoft SQL Server connection for DataBlast Pro, the DataBlast Reporting database, or a drill integration. The screen name may include the connection type or the name of the DataBlast tool that opened it.

To open this screen when starting DataBlast:

  1. Double-click the DataBlast Pro desktop icon, or select DataBlast Pro from the Windows Start menu.

To open this screen for a drill integration:

  1. On the DataBlast application menu, select Site Maintenance.

    The Site Maintenance screen displays.

  2. Select the Service Control node.
  3. Select the Drill Machine Import tab and the sub-tab for the drill interface type.
  4. Click Create ... Control Record for the drill interface type.
  5. Click the ellipsis (...) next to Drill Database Connection String.

To configure the connection:

  1. To reuse a connection, select Recent Connections and double-click the connection.
  2. To locate a SQL Server in Active Directory, select Browse Servers, click Refresh, and select the server.
  3. On the Connection Properties tab, enter the Server Name.
  4. Select the Authentication from Windows Authentication and SQL Server Authentication.
  5. If using SQL Server Authentication:
    1. Enter the User Name and Password.
    2. Select whether to Save Password.
  6. Select or enter the Database Name.
  7. Select the Encrypt value required for the SQL Server environment.

    Important: An Encrypt value must be included in the connection string. If it is omitted, the Microsoft SQL Server database driver defaults to Strict.

  8. Select whether to Trust Server Certificate.
  9. To edit a connection string directly, select the Connection String tab. Click Copy or Paste as required, edit the connection string, and click Apply.
  10. To view or edit advanced connection properties, click Advanced.
  11. To test the connection, click Test Connection.
  12. Click OK.
