Transportation and Logistics
MineMarket includes a wide range of logistics capabilities, such as the modelling and scheduling of trucks, ships, trains and barges, complex traffic handling, equipment and transport delay management, and ship line-up. MineMarket also enables the automatic recording of user-defined incidents to identify bottlenecks in production.
With MineMarket, you can manage despatching bulk materials and discrete units between locations at your sites, from your suppliers and to your customers.
Material can be transported along specified routes, process flows and discrete unit movement flows from one business area location (mine location, stock location, stockyard, waste location, rail siding, barge terminal or port location) to another. The transported material is effectively a moving stockpile.
There are four methods of transportation in MineMarket:
- Trains (used for Trains)
- Trucks (used for Truck Despatches)
- Barges (used for Service Trips)
- Vessels (used for Shipments)
Any of these despatch types can be grouped into lot despatches if required.
You can use supply trains and ships to manage the movement of equipment and consumables.
Transportation and Logistics Configuration
Configuration for transportation and logistics can include:
- Countries
- Incident definitions
- Equipment
- Transport events
- Transport operators
- Transport locations (rail sidings, truck locations, barge terminals and port locations)
- Transport routes
- Locomotives, rail wagons, train templates and train schedules
- Truck types, trucks and truck despatch templates
- Barge transport classes, barge types, barges, service trip templates, tug types and tugs
- Shipment draft parameters, vessel transport classes, vessel types, vessels and shipment templates
How do Other MineMarket Modules Impact Transportation and Logistics?
Inventory Tracking impacts transportation and logistics:
- If you despatch or receive bulk material, you need stock locations and stockpiles in your supply chain.
- If you despatch or receive discrete units, you need discrete unit locations in your supply chain, and discrete units in your inventory.
- You need process flows to load or unload bulk materials and movement flows to load or unload discrete units. See Material Flows.
- You may track Quality and Contributors through your supply chain.
- You may use Calculated Blends to select material sources for loading despatches.
- You may use Planning to help schedule despatches.
- You may use Reconciliation to improve the accuracy of the values recorded in the supply chain based on shipment draft surveys.
Sales and Marketing impacts transportation and logistics:
- You can add Despatch Orders to despatches to link the despatches with Sales and Purchase Contracts.
- The mass basis of the sales or purchase contract impacts in which bases you can enter certificate data on a despatch.
- You may have service charges with rates defined in Service, Freight and Finance Contracts.
- You may create Invoices for despatches.
- Packages assigned to Repurchase Contracts cannot be loaded onto despatches.
System Administration impacts transportation and logistics:
- Units of Measure define units, conversion factors and numbers of decimals for rounding.
- Analyte Measurement Basis may include non-default bases for entering samples and certificates.
- Status Definitions may control the editability and selectability of despatches, discrete units, samples and despatch orders.
- User Preferences and Settings may impact object names, date formats, traceability displays and some shipment settings.
- System Settings and Maintenance control what happens if despatch stockpiles have a negative balance.
- Domains may limit the visibility of objects.
- Security rights for User Groups may limit who can complete which activities in MineMarket.
- Scripting may impact which fields are required and what happens when objects are saved.
