Control the behaviour of License Services when a program has either closed unexpectedly or is in a long processing cycle.

License Services makes periodic checks on licenses and processes running, and where it appears that a process has stopped, it unlocks the associated license(s). Because some processing activities give the appearance that the program has stopped, License Services marks a program several times as "stopped" before unlocking the license.

License Revocation Options

Automatic revocation of checked-out licenses

This field is only enabled if:

  • License Manager is run as administrator
  • No department server key is installed (i.e. the machine is a 'client')

Enabled by default, meaning the client will periodically check the server to see if any of the locally checked-out licenses have been revoked. If so, licenses will be returned to the server, making them available to other users.

If disabled, no revocation check is performed by the client and checked-out licenses will remain checked out until they are checked in or they reach their expiry date/time.

Check for revoked licenses every

Available if the Automatic revocation of checked-out licenses check box is enabled (see above). Use these controls to determine how often a client machine will check the currently connected server(s) for revoked licenses.

The default setting is to check the server every 15 minutes.

Also see License Revocation .

The values described above define the total period that elapses before a license is unlocked.

For example, using the default cleanup values, 5 checks are made at 2 minute intervals, making a total of approximately 10 minutes before a license is unlocked.
