License Service

To display this screen:

  • Display the Options screen and click the License Service tab.

Control the behaviour of the License Service using Startup type:

  • Manual – The license service is triggered by an instruction from License Manager. This setting should be applied for all client computers.

  • Automatic – Automatically start the service, typically when a server runs. This is the expected setting for a physical server.

  • Disabled – Not recommended other than for troubleshooting purposes. This will terminate the running service and prevent it from being started until the setting is changed.

You can also Start, Stop or Restart the service.

The License Service

The License Service is a background task that runs alongside your Datamine applications. It is started either manually, via the License Manager or Windows Services Control Panel, or (by default) automatically when either the Datamine Tooltray or a Datamine Studio or other supported application is launched.

The service continually checks that your product(s) are permitted to run or, where more modular licensing is relevant, whether particular functions within your product(s) are permitted to run.

If the License Service is not running, you won't be able to use applications that depend on it. You can see the status of the License Service on the Options screen. You can also use this area to stop, start or restart the service.
