License Service Options
The License Service tab in the Options dialog allows you to control the behavior
of the License Service using the Startup
type: drop-down list.
This provides the choice of starting the license service automatically
or manually, or disabling it on the host machine:
The License Service
The License Service is a background task that runs alongside your Datamine applications. It is started either manually, via the License Manager or Windows Services Control Panel, or (by default) automatically when either the Datamine Tooltray or a Datamine Studio or other supported application is launched.
The service continually checks that your product(s) are permitted to run or, where more modular licensing is relevant, whether particular functions within your product(s) are permitted to run.
If the License Service is not running, you won't be able to use applications that depend on it. You can see the status of the License Service in the Options dialog. You can also use this area to stop, start or restart the service.
-
[Automatic]: if [automatic], and Allow licenses to be served to clients are selected, licenses are served regardless of whether the server is logged-in (provided that a Network License Server key is available).
-
[Manual]: the License Services service must be started manually on the server by a logged-in user before licenses can be served (provided that a Network License Server key is available).
-
[Disabled]: the server will not serve licenses, regardless of whether Allow licenses to be served to clients is selected in the License Service tab.
Current Status: the Current Status: box indicates whether the License Service is running.
Start/Stop/Restart: the Start and Stop buttons can be used to change the status of this service. The Restart button stops and starts the service in one operation.

Licensing problems resulting from system crashes or power outages can often be resolved by restarting this service. |
Allow licenses to be served: if this check box is selected without a Network License Server key present, a notification is displayed stating that one is required before licenses can be served.
