Tracking Samples

Overview
Tracking samples involves assigning locations, containers, physical types, and sample handling actions to samples.
This process is pertinent to front office staff and sample storage personnel who receive and store samples, and laboratory supervisors who schedule analysis in the laboratory and need to know where samples are located.
Process
Tracking of samples is managed by the Sample Track application.
Auditing of sample tracking changes takes place depending upon the LIMS configuration.
Finding Tracked Jobs
Tracked jobs are located either using a barcode scanner, forms containing custom search criteria, via client and project, or directly by the jobs list.
Adding a Job to Sample Tracking
Jobs that are not added to sample tracking as yet can be located and added.
Updating Job Tracking Details
After a job is added for sample tracking, the sample tracking details can be modified, both at job level and sample portion level.
Maintain tracked sample portions in the job, by physical type
Sample tracking at job level covers containerisation, where all sample portions of the job are placed into a container, typically to store them after analysis in case any sample portions are required for re-analysis, or for transport off-site or back to the client, or for bulk disposal, etc.

Viewing Sample Tracking History
